The Timaru Scottish Society has a long history being established in 1910 to encourage the cultivation of music and literature, and in particular Scottish music and literature, and a love for Scotland, her history and traditions; to promote friendship between Scottish People, their descendants, and supporters; to encourage amongst Scottish People, their descendants, and supporters in Timaru the wearing of highland costume. The Timaru Scottish Society's Pipe Band was established in 1975. The Scottish Hall, which holds up to 250 people, is used for Society gatherings such as the Burns Celebration and St Andrews Day Concerts and hosts many community events, as well as being available for private hire.

Our Pipe Band is currently looking for pipe & drumming learners plus experienced players.
